Special Staff to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Billy Mambrasar: The 2023 ASEAN Summit is More Than Just an Event to Promote Indonesia to the International Level

The 2023 ASEAN Summit or Summit will be held in May 2023. As is known, Indonesia was officially elected as chairman and host of the 42nd and 43rd ASEAN Summits in 2023.

As for ASEAN, it stands for The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or the Association of Nations in Southeast Asia, which was formed on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand. There are five ASEAN founding countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Therefore, every August 8, we commemorate ASEAN Day or ASEAN Day.

Referring to the press release published on the official ASEAN Indonesia 2023 website, the peak implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit will be held on 9-11 May 2023. The agenda for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in 2023 will be held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) , Indonesia. Meanwhile, the 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held in September 2023 in Jakarta.

Through the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”, Indonesia is determined to direct ASEAN cooperation in 2023 to continue and strengthen ASEAN’s relevance in responding to regional and global challenges, as well as strengthening ASEAN’s position as the center of regional economic growth, for the prosperity of the ASEAN people.

The Special Staff of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Billy Mambrasar participated in supporting the series of events at the 2023 ASEAN Summit. He said, President Joko Widodo always knew how global and regional momentum was to promote the Indonesian nation on the international stage. Evidenced by the holding of the 2023 ASEAN Summit.

“We can see how successful the holding of the Asian Games, then the G20, and the 2023 ASEAN Summit will be held in Labuan Bajo on May 9 2023,” said Billy Mambrasar.

The Presidential Special Staff said that ASEAN is predicted to become the center of global economic growth and become a political concern from various fields, geopolitical, economic, social and cultural.

“The aim of the theme ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth is not only an event for the promotion of Indonesia, but also for the President to elevate the dignity of the Republic of Indonesia to the global level,” said Billy Mambrasar.

He expressed his gratitude and congratulations on holding the 43rd ASEAN Summit. Billy Mambrasar also thanked President Joko Widodo and all staff who had succeeded in bringing this event to fruition.

“Keep moving forward Indonesia, keep moving forward ASEAN,” concluded the Special Staff of the President of the Republic of Indonesia from Papua.
