The West Manggarai Regency Government Succeeds the 42nd ASEAN Summit

West Manggarai – West Manggarai Regency Government, has made various preparations in order to make the ASEAN Summit event a success.

The ASEAN Summit, held on May 9-11, is an international event that needs to be carefully prepared. This was revealed by the Regent of West Manggarai, Edistasius Endi.

The Regent of Endi even prepared a special team chaired by the Secretary of the District. West Manggarai Francis Sales Sodo and Expert Staff Elisabeth Maria Mersin as chief executive, to make the ASEAN Summit event a success. In addition, a number of OPDs were also included in the team.

“Mr. Secretary as general chairman. I directly appointed Mrs. Lisa as the daily chairperson. I saw her, her network is quite extensive and her mobility is good,” said Edi during a local government preparatory meeting to support the implementation of the 2023 ASEAN Summit, which took place in the meeting room of the West Manggarai Regent some time ago.

On the same occasion, Edi asked the related OPD to keep the environment clean and maintain security and order.

“This is an order that must be carried out. Once again, it’s to be implemented, not to be scrutinized,” said Edi.

Meanwhile, the courtyard of the West Manggarai Regent’s Office is being prepared to become a parking lot for electric vehicles belonging to ASEAN Summit participants.

The location is considered to be able to accommodate 11-12 electric vehicles, both 2-wheeled and 4-wheeled, and is projected to be a parking pocket for vehicles owned by Heads of State participating in the ASEAN Summit.

“The priority is parking in the yard of the regent’s office, there are 12 cars. 11 cars of Heads of State and 1 car belonging to the Secretary of ASEAN, however, it does not rule out the possibility of an additional number of vehicles.” Obviously.

On the other hand, General Manager of PLN NTT, Fintje Lumembang said, his party installed 100 units of electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) to support the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, NTT.

“PLN has provided 100 SPKLU units to serve 275 electric cars to transport delegates, as well as (electric) cars for security and operational vehicles,” Fintje Lumembang told the media.

According to him, as many as 105 electric motorcycles were deployed during the summit to escort the delegates and carry out patrols.

A number of supporting equipment such as uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Mobile Electrical Substation Unit (UGB), and generators will also be provided.

Indonesia will hold the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023, following the handover ceremony by Cambodia at the closing ceremony of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summit in Phnom Penh. Thus, Indonesia is tasked with hosting the international event. In addition to the 2023 ASEAN Summit which will be held in Labuan Bajo, NTT, in September the Summit will also be held in Jakarta in September 2023 which will be attended by ASEAN member countries and partners.[]
