Jakarta – Indonesian law enforcement continues to demonstrate firm action in combating digital crimes, particularly the growing issue of online gambling. The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police successfully raided a coffee shop in Kalideres, West Jakarta, which was being used as a front for illegal online gambling operations.

During the raid, two individuals, identified by their initials SBU and JPM, were arrested. Their modus operandi involved using ordinary public spaces like coffee shops as operational bases for online gambling websites. Behind the modest appearance of the establishment lay a hidden network running the site gulalislot69.top, known to be actively offering online gambling services.

Jakarta Metro Police Spokesperson Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi explained that the investigation began with a cyber patrol by Unit 2 of the Tahbang/Resmob Sub-directorate in early April 2025. The team detected suspicious activity linked to the website, which was connected to bank accounts in the names of SBU and JPM. Following an in-depth investigation, the physical location of the operation was tracked down and promptly raided.

“Evidence secured during the operation included several mobile phones and laptops used to manage the website, as well as bank books and account records in the names of the suspects,” Ade Ary said.

“We remain committed to cracking down on offenders and expanding our investigation to uncover the broader network behind them,” he added.

This success is part of a broader nationwide operation. The Indonesian government, through the National Police (Polri), has been intensifying efforts to dismantle online gambling networks that are believed to threaten the country’s social and economic stability.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that, to date, 1,248 individuals involved in online gambling activities have been arrested from various regions across the country.

“This kind of operation is particularly dangerous because it targets vulnerable populations, especially those earning under IDR 1–2 million per month. Even more concerning, we’ve found evidence of children under the age of 10 being involved in these activities,” the Police Chief said.

He added that beyond law enforcement, the police are actively conducting outreach and public education campaigns to raise awareness about the financial, psychological, and social dangers of online gambling.

These efforts underline the government’s firm stance: it will not remain passive. Legal enforcement combined with public education is a comprehensive strategy to protect society from the traps of digital addiction.

The government also calls on all sectors of society to actively participate in preventing the spread of online gambling practices, especially within their immediate communities.
