Choirul Fuadi, Central Kalimantan, CIDISS – Kumai’s water, Kotawaringin Barat Regency, Central Kalimantan, after became famous of Air Asia traffic Accident some months ago, now, Kumai’s water is stir because of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) spilled in the area of Kumai’s water.
A hundred ton of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) yellow and thick, because leak of tank of liquid belong to PT Gemareksa Me-karsari (GMK) corporation, saw clearly in Kumai’s water. The leaking was happen on Saturday (16/5/2015).
“This is ecosystem disaster!” said Marwoto, citien who live near leaking of tank of liquid belong to PT Gemareksa Me-karsari (GMK) corporation, like quote in Borneo News, Friday (22/5/2015).
In other side, Marwoto consider the spilled of CPO as blessing to citizen near of leaking location. For him and his neighbor take the CPO then sell it. They got much money from it.
Response to this disaster, Spokesman of Greenpeace Indonesia, Yuyun Indradi, warning to citizen that luck and money whose people got is only temporary luck. “In short time, this is luck for them, in long time, if there is no neutralize will damage to environment, include human,” said Him.
It is also said by environment activist, Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (Walhi). Ari Rompas, director of Walhi central Kalimantan consider Gemareksa Mekarsari (GMK) Corporation broke the procedure in the case of leaking tank CPO and contaminate Kumai’s water, Saturday (16/5/2015).
Procedure breaking is about analyzed of environment damage. “Need positive and pro-active from government to Investigate and examination,” said Him
Walhi sue government pro-active action, appropriate to new mechanism from Ministry of forestry and for environment (KKLH) to report this environment case. Ensure to the law justice is important one, also effort to dignification to minimalists the effect of CPO spilled.
Meanwhile, Public relation of GMK Corporation, Jenu Purnomo, admitted that they still take CPO in river on Kumai’s water. GMK Corporation also fulfills the calling of Indonesian Police of Kotawaringin Barat, Tuesday (19/5/2015). “Yes, they (Police) asked and request to explain the chronology about the leak,” said Him.
In the field, GMK Corporation continues their effort to take the CPO from water.
