The radicalism virus is still a threat to the Indonesian nation. This understanding is very distorted and contrary to the Pancasila and the original culture of the Indonesian people. Therefore, the spread of radicalism must be watched by all the people of Indonesia to be deterred and prevented for the preservation of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

In the global era, science and technology are making rapid progress and are constantly showing new developments. Unfortunately, along with these developments, the values of Pancasila slowly began to erode and intolerance began to shift the cultural values of the nation so that it becomes a wide door for the radicals to spread their understanding. Radical groups know to take advantage of all opportunities and media in an effort to mislead and plunge the public in a dark circle to achieve the goal of destroying the country and its people. Radicalism began to enter the educational and work environment, both through the internet and public activities.

The trend of intolerance and radicalism in Indonesia tends to increase from time to time. The Director of the Wahid Institution , Yenny Wahid, said that from the results of a study conducted by the Wahid Institute, there were around 0.4% or around 600,000 Indonesian citizens who had taken radical action. According to Yenny, the data was calculated based on the adult population of around 150 million people.

In addition, there are groups of people who are vulnerable to being influenced by radical movements, that is, they can carry out radical movements if invited or if there is an opportunity, the number is around 11.4 million people or 7.1%. Meanwhile, the attitude of intolerance in Indonesia also experienced a tendency to increase from previously around 46% and currently to 54%.

At the moment, radicalism is starting to target women and young people, especially students because it is considered easy to be influenced and exploited.

Therefore, counteracting radicalism requires cooperation and support from all parties, ranging from parents, students, students, academics, educators, religious leaders, employees, and employees to the apparatus and government.

The education and family environment must be a place for character development needed to develop the nation. While the work and worship environment must be a place to practice the values of Pancasila, spread tolerance, and harmony and maintain the character and culture of the nation in order to create a sense of security and comfort in community life.

Pancasila as the country of Indonesia, in which includes procedures for religious and social life within the framework of the Homeland. Until now, Pancasila has provided concrete evidence that unites the entire Indonesian nation, in other words, Indonesia stands, is independent, and is optimistic about moving towards a developed country.

The Indonesian people should convey more narratives about tolerance or harmony, an attitude of love for others, nationalism, patriotism and national defense.
