World’s Praise for Jokowi in Economics

299

CIDISS. Since inaugurated on October 20, 2014, various efforts have been made by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to maintain the growth of the Indonesian economy amid the sluggish global economy.

For two years, Jokowi government has also incised a number of achievements, especially in the economic field. Not infrequently, this achievement received praise from the international world. The following reviews as summarized Liputan6.com:

The success of Tax Amnesty

The praise of the success of Tax Amnesty was obtained by Coordinating Minister for Home Affairs, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, during a working visit to the United States. In Uncle Sam’s country, Luhut found the tax amnesty program or tax amnesty run in Indonesia considered successful, the United States Government also praised.

“I was asked at Stanford, why Indonesia could be the most successful tax amnesty in the world,” he said when commemorating the 71st anniversary of energy and mining at the ESDM Ministry.

Until now, the value of the composition of assets based on the Statement of Assets (SPH) delivered through tax amnesty reached Rp 3.718 trillion. The composition consists of domestic property declaration of Rp 2.612 trillion, foreign declaration of Rp 967 trillion, and repatriation of Rp 139 trillion.

In addition, the number of SPH reached 389,984 taxpayers. The composition of the ransom money based on SPH of Rp 91.2 trillion.

The government aims to raise Rp 165 trillion in March 2017.

Courage to cut fuel subsidies

Another compliment gained by Joko Widodo’s government is his courage in cutting fuel subsidies. The compliment is given by President of the United States (US) Barack Obama when President Jokowi visit to the White House in 2015.

Obama gives appreciation and praise to the Government of Indonesia. According to him, cutting fuel subsidies is a bold move because the fuel subsidy problem continues to burden the state budget to hundreds of trillions of rupiah. By cutting subsidies, the government can divert these funds to build infrastructure.

“No ivory is not cracked”, Jokowi government is not a perfect government. But as a small people I am optimistic that the day of Jokowi’s administration will always lead to a better change and more positive achievements will follow in the future.
