Fireign Minister, Retno LP Marsudi said recently that over 600 Indonesians had joined the IS. According with the fact that Indonesian is the world’s largest population of Muslims, it is considered fertile ground for the growth of extrimism, partly due to the absence of strict preventative measures put in place by the government.

There are currently no laws prohibiting Indonesians from traveling abroad to join foreign militant groups, making it difficult for law enforcement agencies to detain those found traveling to the war-torn country.
