Momentum to Promote Labuan Bajo as a Super Priority Tourism Destination, Communities Support the 42nd ASEAN Summit

The 42nd ASEAN Summit will be held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on 10-11 May 2023. Indonesia will raise the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”.

Indonesia is determined to direct regional cooperation to continue and strengthen ASEAN’s relevance in responding to regional and global challenges.

This was said by the Director General of IKP Kominfo Usman Kansong. According to him, through this theme, there are three important pillars which are implied and will be discussed at the ASEAN Summit on May 10-11.

“There are 3 pillars that will be discussed, namely: ASEAN Matters discusses everything to show that ASEAN is important and relevant because it has economic and political contributions such as world peace,” he said through an official statement.

“Epicentrum of Growth makes ASEAN an economic center according to its potential, and finally the Indo-Pacific which also leads to the economy discussing the next project after this Summit activity,” added Usman Kansong.

For this reason, Usman invited all people, especially in Labuan Bajo, to support and participate in the success of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

He further said that the ASEAN Summit held in Labuan Bajo would also have a positive impact on the people of Labuan Bajo, both from the tourism sector, MSMEs, etc.

“Let’s support the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, the whole community is expected to support this event because the benefits of this international event will return to the community through the economy, infrastructure or others,” he said.

On the other hand, Chairman of the NTT Kadin Bobby Lianto said the ASEAN Summit which was held in Labuan Bajo was a momentum to promote Labuan Bajo as a super priority tourist destination.

Therefore, many MSME and tourism actors are very enthusiastic and support the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

“The people of NTT are very enthusiastic and support especially entrepreneurs and MSMEs because the NTT region, especially Labuan Bajo, is being promoted internationally, even now investors are also starting to arrive,” he said.

Bobby Lianto also said that the local government also continues to socialize the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo so that this event can be successful and successful.

For this reason, Bobby also invited the public to support and take advantage of the momentum of the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo to be able to prove that Labuan Bajo can be a place for international events to be held.

“We invite the people of NTT, especially the people of Labuan Bajo, because this is not a golden opportunity but a diamond opportunity that may not necessarily occur elsewhere considering that the usual summit events only occur in Jakarta and Bali,” he said.

“Therefore, we must take advantage of this expensive momentum to provide concrete evidence that Labuan Bajo is worthy of being a location for international events and a tourist destination,” he continued.
