JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo reminded that the results of the agreement agreed upon during the G20 Summit (Summit) will soon be realized. Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Usman Kansong said the realization of the agreement was to prove that the G20 Summit was not just a place for discussion among the elite.

“It also proves that the G20 Summit is indeed a discussion that can be implemented,” said Usman in the Trijaya Hot Topic Evening with the theme “Concrete Output of the Indonesian G20 Presidency”, Thursday (8/12/2022).

Usman added, the President also wanted the G20 activities to benefit the Indonesian people, including the G20 rotating the Indonesian economy.

He explained, there were two benefits of the G20 for the people of Indonesia, namely from a national or state perspective. The G20 increased Indonesia’s branding in the eyes of the world, both in terms of leadership. So that Indonesia is a country to be reckoned with.

The second benefit, said Usman, is concrete things received by the community in the form of an additional Rp. 7.4 trillion in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to drive the economy.

“Increasing economic added value for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of IDR 1.7 trillion and reviving Bali tourism,” he said.

In addition, according to Usman, the agreement also achieved equality in the world of health. Where developed countries must play a role, as before equality related to vaccination.

Usman said that it was hoped that the declaration of state leaders could open the eyes of countries involved in the war, that war had tremendous economic impacts. The impact is not only for the warring countries but the whole world.

“The G20 Summit is a forum for multilateral economic cooperation, because of that, from an economic point of view, it is stated that war causes economic difficulties, energy crises and food crises. It is hoped that the G20 event can reduce tension between warring countries,” said Usman.

Usman explained, the President requested that a number of agreements in the G20 be brought to the ASEAN Summit next year and extended to the Indopacific.

Previously, Jokowi mentioned that during the G20 Summit in Bali, in November 2022, there would be 226 multilateral projects with a value of US$238 billion and 140 bilateral projects with a value of US$71.4 billion. .

Jokowi asked his staff to form a task force to follow up on these bilateral and multilateral agreements. This was done so that the program projects and initiatives were immediately executed quickly.

The President also encouraged his staff to accelerate the realization of investment commitments obtained from G20 countries.

A number of these investment commitments include funding for infrastructure through the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) scheme and funding for the development of electric vehicles through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) led by the US. There are also investment commitments from Japan, Britain and South Korea for the Jakarta MRT as well as cooperation with Turkey for the construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road and other investments.

In addition to this agreement, the G20 Summit also succeeded in ratifying the G20 Leaders Declaration or the G20 Bali Leaders Declaration.
