The government continues to work hard in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic which is currently sweeping the world. However, the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia continues to improve every day, one of which is indicated by the continuing increase in the cure rate.

The period of extension of the transitional large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) which was valid for two weeks from 26 October has ended on 8 October 2020. This transitional PSBB was extended for two weeks after previously being enforced for four weeks.

Before the transitional PSBB was implemented, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had decided to withdraw the emergency brake and imposed a tightened PSBB due to a spike in daily Covid-19 cases in early September 2020.

Initially, the tightened PSBB was enforced for 2 weeks, namely from September 13 to 27 2020. Then the PSBB was extended again for two weeks from September 28 to October 11 2020.

During the transitional PSBB, a number of regulations began to be relaxed, such as cinemas that were allowed to resume operations and non-essential sector offices that were allowed to employ employees in offices with a maximum capacity of 50 percent.

Then there is a long holiday period in commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW for 5 days.

During the extended period of the transitional PSBB, the average daily case for Covid-19 was 785 cases. In fact, for 11 days, the addition of daily Covid-19 cases was below 1,000.

The daily cases of Covid-19 increased above 1,000 only on November 2 and November 7. During the transitional period of PSBB, the percentage of recovered patients also touched the highest number since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, namely 90.7 percent on November 7, 2020.

A total of 100,816 people from the total number of Covid-19 patients have recovered. For active cases of Covid-19 in the capital, there are now 8,026 recorded.

Meanwhile, in Jakarta, 2,539 Covid-19 patients died. The number of deaths is equivalent to 2.1 percent of the total cases in Jakarta. In the same period, the death toll from Covid-19 in Jakarta showed no signs of sloping.

In the last two weeks, the average death rate due to Covid-19 in Jakarta has been 20 people.

It seems that the sloping daily case was not accompanied by the number of people who were tested for swabs. During the transitional PSBB extension period, the number of people who were subjected to swab tests in Jakarta never exceeded 10,000 people per day.

Referring to the corona.jakarta.go.id site, Jakarta first recorded the number of people who were tested for swabs of more than 10,000 per day on July 22, 2020. At that time, 10,061 people were tested and 416 of them tested positive for Covid-19.

Then, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has consistently held 10,000 swab tests for Jakarta residents per day until last October. In August, it was recorded that more than 10,000 people were tested for swabs in three consecutive days, namely on August 19, 26 and 28.

Swab tests in Jakarta started to stabilize, breaking the figure of more than 10,000 people per day since September when Jakarta recorded more than 10,000 specimens.

The trend continued until October, when there were 21 days Jakarta recorded more than 10,000 tests per day. In fact, the number of people tested reached 15,978 on October 12.

However, the number of swab tests started to decline at the end of October until the first week of November.

From 28 October to 7 November, the number of swab tests in DKI Jakarta has never again reached 10,000 people per day. In addition, there was an increase in the capacity of isolation beds and ICU beds in 98 referral hospitals during the PSBB transition period. For information, as many as 8 referral hospitals were determined based on the Decree of the Minister of Health Number HK.01.07 / MENKES / 169/2020.

Meanwhile, 90 other hospitals were determined based on the Governor’s Decree (Kepgub) Number 987 of 2020 concerning the second amendment to the Governor’s Decree Number 378 of 2020 concerning the Appointment of Referral Hospitals for Covid-19 Management.

Based on the latest data until November 1, the remaining 52% of the 5,782 isolation bed capacity in referral hospitals in the Capital City.

Meanwhile, the remaining 58% of the 793 ICU beds in referral hospitals are designated for Covid-19 patients. Currently, 508 Covid-19 patients are being treated in the ICU.

Not only referral hospitals, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also provides hotels and guesthouses for Covid-19 patients to anticipate a surge in patients. This certainly shows that the government’s efforts to reduce the Covid-19 number are not playing games. However, this certainly requires collaboration from the community to remain compliant with health protocols.
