DENPASAR – The Group of Twenty (G20) Summit in Nusa Dua, culminating from 15 -16 November 2022, is very important, not only for Indonesia, but also for a better life in the world in dealing with various problems. Because of this, the Bali Province Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has prepared Muslims in Bali to participate in maintaining security, peace and comfort during the G20 implementation.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of MUI Bali, Drs. H. Mahrusun Hadyono, M. PD.I. in Denpasar. “The Indonesian Ulema Council also gave encouragement to the people by writing letters to the MUI districts/cities throughout Bali to prepare everything, so that the G20 can run smoothly. In addition, the Bali MUI has made recommendations for the Muslim community to pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, God Almighty, and hopes that the G20 will run smoothly, safely and successfully.”

Haji Mahrusun admitted that he had received information about the planned G20 Summit for some time, and had participated in the socialization several times, “We as Muslims, at least from the Bali Province MUI, really support this activity. MUI Bali participates in preparing the community. In several meetings attended by the Bali MUI, both with Islamic organizations and between religious figures, it is always conveyed how important it is to maintain harmony and togetherness, especially ahead of the G20 implementation in November.”

Then together with other religious leaders, such as Hindus, Buddhists, Confucians, Christians and Catholics, they also attended a joint prayer held by the local government of Bali in Nusa Dua.

When asked about the relationship between religious tolerance, the man from Nganjuk, East Java said that in Bali it was going well without any problems. Reports from the MUI districts and cities in Bali, stated that inter-religious harmony is very good.

And conditions in Bali have been going on for a long time. “We always foster this, because, in fostering religious harmony, it must be carried out actively, active harmony. This means that after the pillars we are not silent, but after the pillars we continue to conduct coaching. Even though it is good, it is in harmony, it is not that we are silent, but we continue to provide guidance to the younger generation, including women. Because of that harmony, the younger generation needs to be prepared, so that they can continue what their parents have done before,” said Haji who works as a lecturer at a university. (*)
