The Papuan People Fully Support the Government’s Commitment in Taking Firm Action against the Papuan OPM

 Papua — In the last decade, the Government has paid attention to extending Papua’s Special Autonomy (Otsus) and increasing the Papua regional budget by 2.25 percent. This effort aims to make development on Cenderawasih Earth more advanced. However, this development had to be temporarily stopped due to OPM actions which resulted in many casualties including civilians and security forces.

Not only are they obstructing, the heinous actions carried out by OPM have really caused fear and worry for people who want to carry out their daily activities. Apart from that, OPM also continued to damage and burn public facilities in the form of hospitals, schools and other infrastructure.

Papuan Youth Leader, Charles Kossay said that both the Government, Religious Leaders, Community Leaders, Tribal Heads, Chairs of Traditional Community Institutions (LMA) should support the efforts of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police in securing Papua.

“I invite all elements of society in the Land of Papua, including the Government, Religious Leaders, Community Leaders, Tribal Chiefs, LMA Chairmen to fully monitor and support the efforts of the joint TNI-Polri security forces in securing development in Papua,” said the Papuan Youth Leader. Furthermore, Charles Kossay said that the entire community must also fully support the security forces in taking firm action against the OPM for their heinous actions which have harmed many parties.

“I also remind all people in the Land of Papua to fully support the security forces in taking firm action against the Armed Criminal Group or OPM, whose actions or actions have claimed many lives, including civilians and TNI-Polri officers themselves,” said Charles.

Charles said that the massive cruel actions of the OPM created fear and unrest among the Papuan people. This has an impact on hampering their daily activities and stopping development on Bumi Cenderawasih.

“I condemn the Armed Criminal Group or OPM whose actions in recent times have been so disturbing that people are afraid to carry out their daily activities,” he said.

“I also condemn the OPM’s actions which disrupt and also damage public facilities in Papua, namely the construction of hospitals, schools and development projects run by the state for the Land of Papua. “Therefore, let’s work together to protect the Land of Papua and take firm action against all disgraceful actions carried out by the OPM,” he concluded.
